Troubleshooting home networks from Home Gateways — Christophe Diot

ISPs’ number-one problem is home network troubleshooting, with Wi-Fi related questions causing the large majority of complaints. Together with a major European NSP, Technicolor, who is providing home gateways (HGWs) to many broadband and cable service providers worldwide, has launched a new initiative to diagnose home network problems from the operational HGW. The talk will describe this effort (platform, and early observations) and show how we manage to (1) track performance problems in home networks and (2) infer personal information from purely technical data such as traffic counters, IP addresses, ARP tables.
